Allen Joseph Sehein passed away on March 8, 2024, at the age of 65. Al was born on June 3, 1958, in Perth Amboy, NJ, to Joseph and Elizabeth Sehein. His life was marked by hard work, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for life.
For 41 years, Al was a dedicated worker for the Ford Motor Company. His work ethic extended beyond his formal job, and Al’s hands were equally skilled at transforming spaces. He purchased a fixer-upper house and renovated it from top to bottom. His ability to turn a neglected structure into a warm home was just one example of the many skillful activities which filled his life.
Al found solace in the great outdoors. His annual hunting trip, most commonly to Stokes State Forest in NJ, offered him a chance to get away from work and simply enjoy nature. Al loved to spend time talking with anyone who was willing to talk to him, and his excellent memory for details allowed him to share many stories in those conversations.
Al was a true food enthusiast. He relished seafood, enjoyed fishing and crabbing, and had a special love for the Hungarian cuisine of his childhood. Combining his love for food and his love for talking, he would spend time during great meals telling stories about other great meals.
Sports and music were also close to Al’s heart. He enjoyed football games, NHRA races, and rock concerts. In quieter moments, he tended to his garden and worked on crossword puzzles.
Al loved to spend time with his family and had many traditions with them. Christmas was his favorite time of the year and he loved to hold Christmas Eve celebrations at his house. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Chris Sehein, Melissa (Paul) Rippel, Allen Sehein II, and Derrick (Samantha) Sehein; grandchildren, Skylar, Jeremy, Vance, Audrey, and Grace; former spouse, Marilyn Sehein; siblings, Cynthia Sehein, Joseph Sehein, and Pennie Alvarez; and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation to remember Al will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH on Wednesday March 13,2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Online condolences can be made at walkerfuneralhomes.com
