Our Promises

Our Commitments to Your Family

1.) To Respect Your Budget

Sadly, some funeral homes have a very aggressive approach to funeral pricing. They will advertise a low price to get you in the door and then commence to sell you additional products and services that were conveniently not included. Often these items are things that you may not need or want. We believe this practice is completely unethical and hurtful to your family.

At Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory, our unique consultative arrangement process begins with you describing your loved one’s life and the type of services you have in mind. Next, we will explore a wide variety of memorial options and help you design a beautiful farewell for your loved one while staying within whatever budget you have set.

Throughout the process, we always strive to recommend what is best for your family not what is best for our business. This used to be how all funeral homes worked but unfortunately, in today’s competitive market, some have strayed from our traditional role as stewards for your family during a very difficult time.

2.) You Will Have 24-Hour Access to Our Team

Regardless of when you call us, your call will be personally answered by a trained funeral service professional. During normal office hours, our staff answers the calls. After hours, we use the support of an answering service exclusively focused on funeral service. Their staff is prepared to handle your call with upmost compassion and will immediately connect you with the Walker Care Team.

If your loved one has passed, a member of our team will be immediately dispatched to bring them into our care. Our goal is to have them in our care within one hour of receiving your call. Funeral arrangements can be made at the location and time of your choosing.

We feel it is important to personally bring them into our care. Which is why we never use the services of a third-party company like most funeral homes do in our area.

In the days leading up to the funeral service you will have direct cell phone access to your dedicated funeral director. They will be available 24×7 should you have any questions or concerns.

3.) You Will Have the Opportunity for a Private Goodbye with Your Love One

Saying goodbye to your loved one is never easy. Unfortunately, in today’s culture, many people try to skip this step. The sad reality is that failing to say goodbye to someone you love leaves emotional wounds that may never heal.

Some people who are preplanning their own funerals assume they are making it easier for their families by requesting no viewing of their remains. Sadly, they are actually making it harder for their families. Allowing their body to be present is actually the last meaningful gift they can give to their loved ones. Their spirit may have departed but their earthly body will help those who remain accept the loss and begin their journey through the natural grief process.

At Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory, whenever possible every family is given the opportunity to say goodbye to their loved one in one of our intimate, well-appointed Private Farewell rooms. If a public visitation is planned the Private Farewell is typically scheduled to precede the public time.

4.) Your Service Can Be as Creative or Traditional as You Like

Many families find significant comfort in a traditional funeral service complete with a public visitation, church or chapel funeral service, procession to the cemetery, and a graveside ceremony. Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory has always, and will always, be ready to care for families wanting a traditional service.

We also pride ourselves as having the most flexible, creative and innovative funeral directors in the area and have become the funeral homes of choice for families who want to personalize their farewell service in unique ways.

Some of our creative services have included:

  • A family who conducted a mock trial when their attorney father passed away. In the end the all concluded he was indeed a great father.
  • Performed a service for a family in their backyard on a perfect summer day under the trees with deceased’s favorite music and readings/poems presented by family members.
  • Conducted a moving tribute to a firefighter in the fire hall administration building Surrounded our funeral home with dozens of classic cars for a gentleman who was an avid car collector.
  • Transformed our visitation room and chapel into a beautiful series of gardens for the owner of a local garden shop.

When it comes to creative services our guideline is simple…as long as the idea is safe, legal, ethical, and moral we will do everything possible to accommodate your request. Our goal in all cases is to make every farewell a Beautiful Farewell™.

5.) You Will Be Given the Opportunity for a Spiritually Significant Ceremony

The loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming time of hectic activity and sadness. To help with the healing process, some families turn to their pastor to present a eulogy and to lead the prayers. However, many families without a church home are left looking for someone to lead the ceremony for their loved one.

At Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory, we are fortunate to have six trained funeral celebrants who are available to step in to fill this important role. Your Walker Celebrant spends three to four hours working directly with family members to uncover the key elements of the life story and develop an overall theme. Next, they will design the entire service with a particular focus on family participation.

During the funeral service, the Walker Celebrant functions as a master of ceremonies introducing the various participants and then concludes the ceremony by presenting the life story.

We are also prepared to offer several special touches which can add to the spiritual nature of your ceremony. For example, a dove release at graveside is used to represent the eternal nature of the soul and a lone bagpiper playing “Amazing Grace” will warm your heart.

6.) To Focus on the Comfort of Your Guests

A visitation and funeral service often involves far more than just the immediate and extended family. It is quite common for friends, neighbors, coworkers, and acquaintances to attend. In some instances, the entire community comes together to show their support when someone passes away.

At Walker, our care for your family does not end with your family. Instead our care encompasses your guests as well. Whether there are 10 or 1,000 guests attending, we do everything possible to ensure the comfort of everyone.

Some of the ways we show our support for guests include the following:

  • Handicapped accessible bathrooms.
  • Convenient parking at each location.
  • Greeters at the door to welcome guests.
  • Multiple registry books to reduce wait time.
  • Beautifully decorated facilities.
  • Water is always available, and catering can be arranged.
  • Mints available throughout the visitation rooms.

In addition, we put a great deal of effort into ensuring that your loved one looks as good as possible for the visitation. Some of your guests may not have seen the deceased in a long time, and we want to make sure that they look their best.

7.) You Will Value the Experience

The cost of a funeral service is often important. But the real priority is the value you receive for the money you spend. Whether you spend $3,000 or $30,000, if the experience does not meet the emotional, spiritual, and practical needs of your family…you’ve spent too much.

At Walker Funeral Homes & Crematory, we pride ourselves on delivering more value than any other funeral service provider in the area.

Value comes from

  • Our expert guidance as you navigate a difficult time.
  • Our ability to create a unique and beautiful funeral experience your family and friends will cherish.
  • Our willingness to handle all the details so you can relax and experience the love and support of family and friends.
  • Our talented team members who always treat everyone with compassion and care.
  • Our selection of only the highest quality products at all price ranges.

Some people ask us how we can do this type of work every day. The answer is that it’s a calling. Every person who works at our funeral home doesn’t just do it for a paycheck. We do it to care for families when they need it the most…at the time of the loss of a loved one.

Should there ever be a portion of our services that does not meet your expectations, simply notify us right away and we will do whatever it takes to correct the shortfall. If we are unable to do so, that portion of our service fee will be promptly refunded.
