Obituary for Doris E. Arndt
Doris Arndt, age 84, returned to heaven to be with her late husband, Marvin W. Arndt, on Sunday, December 31, 2017, after a recent struggle with kidney failure and pneumonia. Her love for her family and faith in Jesus comforted and supported her and brought her much peace. Doris was born to Edward and Freda Johanna (Petersen) Turnow, a farmer and homemaker, respectively, in Martin, Ohio, on June 17, 1933. An only child, Doris was born on the same day her father died from tuberculosis.
Doris married Marvin Arndt on October 24, 1953, and together they raised their children, Kenneth, Brenda and Becky, on the family farm in Graytown, Ohio. Doris and Marvin instilled in their children the importance of work, family, friends and faith. A kind and loving person, Doris’s contagious smile and laugh brought happiness to all who were privileged to know her. She truly loved “getting out of the house” and meeting people.
Her career included work as a beautician, as an employee of Stokely's Tomato Factory, and as a mailroom employee of National Family Opinion, where she retired in 1991. As the end of her life drew near, she reflected fondly upon the happiness she especially found with her church friends, her neighbors and her former co-workers.
Doris first and foremost wanted to be known as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 2002; and her son-in-law, James (Brenda) Lowe in 2015. Doris is survived by her son, Kenneth (Nancy) Arndt, Algonquin, IL; daughters, Brenda Lowe (Oak Harbor, OH) and Becky (Richard) Studer, Graytown, OH; grandchildren, Stephen (Kylie), David (Chelsea) and Kevin Arndt, Michael (Sarah), Brian, Jimmy (Angie) and Johnny Lowe David Studer (fiancée, Lauren Sandwisch), Jessica Studer and Jennifer (Dan) Snyderman; great grandchildren, Austin Arndt and Kendall Arndt, Owen Lowe and James and Chloe Lowe.
Visitation for Doris will be 2-8 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, 450 N. Rocky Ridge Rd., Rocky Ridge. Burial will be follow in Elliston Cemetery.
